Black Friday is the time when you can get the best deals both in brick-and-mortar stores and online. VPN services are no exception, as VPN providers tend to save their biggest discount for this annual event. Let's see what's new for Black Friday 2016.
Psst... this year's Black Friday page is just a click away!
StackSocial Black Friday
As usual, the tech deals website StackSocial is bringing us discounted VPN subscription this year. You can get an additional 15% off with the coupon code BLACKFRIDAY15
.
Now here is the list of VPN services on sale:
- VPN Unlimited Lifetime is now $29. You can find my review here.
- Hotspot Shield "Elite" VPN Lifetime is discounted at $49.
- Zen VPN Lifetime subscription is $45
- Windscribe 1-Year is $19. The interesting aspect of this service is that it is one of the few services that offer a Chrome extension. As a consequence, it works on Chromebooks.
- PureVPN Lifetime Subscription is $59
Pro tip: when a subscription is for a lifetime duration, it often means it is for the lifetime of the company offering the VPN service. Not your lifetime.
CyberGhost Premium
Get the Premium subscription for $21 instead of the usual $69. That's a whopping 70% off.
CyberGhost is a Romanian provider with a freemium business model. The base service is free but the experience is limited by the number of servers you can access, and most importantly the speed of those servers. Indeed, the free servers are significantly slower than their premium counterparts. At CyberGhost, Premium means only one device. If you want to use more than one device, you can choose the Premium Plus plan. CyberGhost counts devices and not simultaneous connections since your devices are linked to your account. If you want to use your Premium subscription on another device, you have to delete the previous device from your account settings before.
Golden Frog VyperVPN Pro
VyprVPN Pro is 40% off for Cyber Monday.
This plan allows 3 simultaneous connections to any of the 70+ server locations. But most importantly, with this Pro plan you can enable the Chameleon™ mode which scrambles OpenVPN packets' metadata to hide the fact that you are using a VPN. This makes blocking your connection more difficult for your ISP or country, as it defeats Deep Packet Inspection techniques.
Private Internet Access
For Black Friday, Private Internet Access yearly plan is 65% off, now at only $29.
PIA allows 5 simultaneous connections. With the included Private Internet Access MACE, ads and tracking are blocked (just as F-Secure has been doing it for almost a year), and they also block malware at the network level. Normally, PIA is already one of the most affordable services, at $6.95/month or $39/year. They have numerous locations, and they even include a SOCKS5 proxy in your subscription.
However the UI looks a bit dated, with its location-changing menu as a tray icon on Windows. But if you prefer an easy to use UI to a modern and sleek one, Private Internet Access can be a good choice.
F-Secure Freedome
Get 50% off on F-Secure's great VPN called Freedome with the promo code BLACKFRIDAY
. You can read my review of Freedome here.
